Ingredient List
- Fresh Strawberries: 2 cups of strawberries. You can totally use frozen strawberries instead. You may need to increase the simmer time to offset the added moisture.
- Granulated Sugar: 1/2 cup of sugar. If you’re looking to make this compote sweeter, add a tablespoon at a time to taste.
- Lemon Juice: 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice will add a brightness to the sauce. Add a teaspoon of lemon zest if you’re a big lemon lover!
- Vanilla Extract: 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract will add depth to your compote.

How To Make Our 4-Ingredient Strawberry Compote
- Prepare the Fresh Strawberries: Wash and rinse your strawberries in a colander or strainer to remove any dirt and debris. Hull and chop your strawberries into quarters. If you prefer you compote without large chunks of strawberry, you can chop your strawberries into smaller pieces.
- Combine Ingredients: In a small saucepan, combine the chopped strawberries with the lemon juice and granulated sugar.
- Simmer: Simmer on medium heat for about 10-12 minutes or until the compote mixture thickens.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the compote from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let the compote cool to room temperature before serving. You can put this in the fridge for 10 minutes to speed up the process.

Ingredients
2 Cups Chopped Fresh Strawberries
1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar
1 Tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice
1/4 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Directions
- Wash and rinse your Fresh Strawberries in a colander or strainer to remove any unwanted dirt and debris.
- Hull and quarter the strawberries.
- Combine the strawberries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice in a small saucepan.
- Simmer over medium heat for 10-12 minutes until your compote has thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Let cool to room temperature before serving.
Notes
- You can use frozen strawberries instead. This may take a few minutes longer while simmering due to the added moisture.
- Try adding a teaspoon of cornstarch to your compote while simmering to make it extra thick.
